The vast majority of consumers (92%) trust earned media more than any other form of advertising, says this week’s infographic, based on a study by Crowdtap. That’s the basic reason why social media and peer recommendations are transforming the way consumers discover and shop for holiday gifts. The study shares insights into the habits and preferences of social holiday shoppers, which marketers can use to drive red-hot results during the Winter holidays.

64.8% use social media to find the perfect gift
53.9% of shoppers use social while they’re shopping in stores
44.3% discover holiday deals through peer recommendations
25% say peer recommendations on Facebook and Twitter are the leading driver of their holiday purchases, versus runner-up TV commercials (13.6%)
